Went to two local banks today and got 14 rolls of halves. First time getting half rolls, been lurking with the lowly cent and nickels mostly. Well, no first timers luck like others posting recently. NO, NONE, nada, zippo on any silver. Was able to fill 5 holes and replace 4 with better examples, nothing spectacular about that. Knew I was in trouble early on into second roll, marked coins started showing up. could identify three separate markings, meaning someone's (times three) has been here before me. Funny thing is these are Brinks supplied, coming from KC or St. Louis where the main dumping ground is. Don't think this level of CRH will be profitable any more. I used to mark 100-200 pennies or nickels before returning, had a system, used a specific color per year and used day # of year...365=Dec.31. Only one time did I find my markers, 2 of them from same week, deposited 10 days before. These also were found in local bankwrapped rolls, never from any Fed depot. Have yet to find a marked nickel;

Crazy, half hunting has never revealed silver for me, despite a few boxes of halves (except once, a teller had 3 halves, one of which was a 40%er, my gf was with me so I let her have it in order to keep her interested)
**interested in CRH... Lol

 Do you all just go up to a teller at your bank and buy the rolls or do you have to order them? I haven't bought boxes of rolls before. Sounds like a lot of work...

mmnknight: yea, tellers can order a box if its bank policy, some smaller branch banks may not have any on hand. My branch had a few rolls, my main bank had Boxes for $500 a pop, way over what I have! I always check all along the teller line to see what goodies they may have in their trays. Sometimes sweet talking a teller goes a long way, they sometimes set aside those goodies for ya!
Clarify: Penny box = $25, Nickel box = $100, Dime box =$250, Quarter & Half box = $500

I've never had luck with those either, I like my cents, nickels, and quarters, so that's where I'll stay.

Instead of getting half rolls,you should get full rolls. Maybe you would have better luck John1

One needs to search several thousand dollars in halves in order to obtain any decent sample of finds.
