I wanted to know what would cause the marks just above the letters (IN GOD) on this penny. Also wanted to try out the editing tool for writing so here goes.

w/ John1.

As dies wear out, objects tend to move outward, hence this metal flow shows up above letters. Classic worn die indicator is that "ring" around an under the motto.
