Anyone know approx value of the 1861 Oath of allegiance silver George Washington medal in mid MS 62-64range? There's a couple on ebay from 1500-1900 dollar range is that too much?

Those are waaaay overpriced!

From some quick searching of auction records from the last 15 years, they tend to sell between $100 and $350. Even the nicest silver examples don't sell into four digits. Prices for these really depend on eye appeal. Technical grade doesn't matter as much, at least not to most exonumists, imo.

An aluminum example, with only a very few known, sold for a little over $1000 a few years back. It is far rarer than the silver medal.

The key to acquiring a piece like this is patience. They WILL turn up at a fair price, if you wait long enough. I currently own a decent example in silver that I acquired for about $75.

Yeah, I felt like it was a bit over priced and yes I seen a few auction listings after I posted this and they didn't get very high. Thanks for the help. Want to make some money on that silver medal? Haha! Good find!
