Year is 27, 1952.

The same design is still in circulation in Japan, but the edge reeding was removed in 1959.

This early type is not usually found in circulation (think like wheat cents in the US or George VI coins in Canada) and fetches a nominal premium. Still worth less than 25 cents, however.
