Hello everyone,

I have no idea what this coin is. I think it's French, and the two portraits are of Louis XIV and Anne of Austria.

Does anyone have any information in regards to grade, year, denomination, and pricing?

Thanks for the help!

A jeton. Note the use of FRAN in the legend instead of FR, and the use of "NAVAR" and the full spelling of "REGINA."

Reference: Feuardent 12438, which states brass or "yellow copper", 6.80g and 28mm in diameter. There is a similar version, Feuardent 12437, with a different legend for Anna's side (ANNA REGINA...)

Louis' side has a privy mark B between two points, i.e. Nicolas Briot. Briot was active mid 1600s to 1640s, this is possibly early 1640s.

Regency of Louis XIV & his mother, Anna of Austria.

Side 1 is LUDOVICUS XIIII D G FRAN ET NAV REX: Louis XIV, by the Grace of God, King of France and Navarre.

Side 2 is ANNA D G FR ET NAVAR REGINA: Anna, by the Grace of God, Queen of France and Navarre.

Average circulated examples seem to sell for 20-40 Euros; yours is probably US Fine on the Louis side (French TB) and Good-Very Good (French AB-B) on the Anna side. The value on your example will be hurt slightly by environmental damage; was this a detector find / dug from the ground? It also appears to have been cleaned at one time.

Sources: Feuardent F; Rondot N.

Thanks for the information! I'm not sure of its origins, as I bought it from an antique dealer, but I don't think it has been cleaned as when I examine the coin it appears to retain its original color and the patina looks to be intact.
