Is it thicker/ larger than a normal Wheat cent?

Maybe you could post a picture of the edge when sandwiched between two others?

It may just be thick-rolled stock which isn't unusual. I don't know what the tolerances are for weight variation, though.

Edit: It seems the current tolerance for cents is +/-0.13g. I don't know what it was in 1954, if different at all.

Thanks for the pics!

I'll wait for those with more expertise than I to comment on weight variation of Wheat Cents.

It actually does look thicker than the other two in your second pic. Definitely more than the top one and slightly more than the bottom one.

I'm interested because 3.4g seems a little too far out there to be within standard deviations from 3.11g. Also, if you're using a digital scale that does not measure 1/100g then you have to account for rounding. It may actually weigh 3.35g.

The original post is kind of in the "late night" realm and that's probably why only me and Crazyb0 have commented.

I expect more comments tomorrow.

Sounds like a rooled thick planchet. At 3.4 it is noticeably outside mint tolerance range (even if it is 3.35 and the scale is rounding to 3.4 it is still well out of tolerance)

Value, probably not much. Now it it was 4 grams then you would probably have something of real interest.
