Reading back this slowly aging thread

I got curious as to exactly how many different types of skin cancers can develop on coins, whether they were fated to have the skin cancer upon minting or were exposed to a substance post-mint (PVC residue). I would like to know how to avoid all of the skin cancers, and probably some of you want to as well.

So, what are all these coin-skin cancers?

PVC is really the only thing you need to worry about, just buy the modern flips and you'll be fine.

Should one give their coins an acetone bath prior to putting in the flip, just to remove anything that might be on the coin?

At least it removes any handling skin oils and dirt that may have recently been picked up from whence it cometh...
