What Happened To This 1796-Mo 8 Reales? Chopmarks? Stamped?

Saw this coin listed while browsing auctions and was curious as to what might have happened to it. It looks like chop marks but there are a ton of them on both sides. Would appreciate any feedback, I know there are a few 8 Reales veterans who hang out around here.

Those are just chopmarks. That coin has traveled across the seas quite a few times.

Yes, those are all chopmarks. My LCD has a similar one. It actually adds to the value greatly in this case.

I agree these chop marks are mainly made up of Chinese characters or symbols.

I know there was alot of these heavily chop marked coins circulating around asia and the pacific in the early 1800's. Occaisionally they pop up here in Australia as the coin was actively circulated here back in colonial days when Australia had currency shortages.
