Hi - looking for help identifying small bead/large bead on the 1966 coin. I've checked with the Charlton book and the "i" seems to point to the bead. More expert comments sought Cheers Joey

This is a large bead variety. The easiest way to tell the varieties apart is to compare the beads between the 'D G Regina' to the beads around the rim. If the beads around the rim are larger than those two dots, you have a large bead variety.

Large bead, the heads are larger than the dots on D G as stated above :)

i agree, large beads for sure. the best way to be able to differentiate the large and small beads IMO is to sit down with a readily available 1965 small beads and a 1966. small beads is a flat field while the large beads is more dish like. you will notice minor differences after examining the 2 and eventually seeing the difference will be like night and day

Also agree. And for exhaustive info on this variety check the Canadian Variety and Error Coins etc. forum which has about a million threads about this along with a million more tricks for differentiating the two varieties.
