A quick breakdown, this coin was part of a job lot of provincials I purchased and came sealed in 4 BAGS !!
It looked like a squashed Brussel Sprout that had hardened but was still actively rotting
Why someone would keep it and then send it in with other coins is beyond me, fortunately it was well sealed so no leakage.
I was going to throw it away when a friend offered to do a blow torch treatment on it that he had been practicing, this is what I got back much to my surprise -

Caracalla-Provincial,-Temple-Reverse

Caracalla-Provincial,-Temple-Reverse

Although I have not yet identified it properly, I am pretty confident in saying that it is a Caracalla provincial with a mature Radiate head & a Temple reverse with 3 standing figures.
Not bad for a squashed Brussel sprout

I know, pretty shocked myself when he said what he was going to do to it
I just wish I had taken a picture of it before I gave it to him, I honestly didn't expect anything to remain as it was in such a terrible state.
I didn't mind what he wanted to do to it in all honesty, he could have nuked it as far as I was concerned, I just didn't want it anywhere near my other coins in the state it was in.

Blow torch treatment, that's a new one. Would have been interesting to see what it looked in the first place, but from your description it must have been a mess. So the treatment seemed to help.
