I seen this wrong colored nickel before I even took it out of the wrapper. The pictures don't do it justice. Is this an anealing issue or did someone plate it? It's very faint in these pictures. I can take more if needed. I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this one! Thanks for any advice!

Not an annealing issue and it does not look plated to me either. Toning of some kind or maybe something is on it like a substance?

I'm sure neither of us would be surprised if this was just environmental damage. It is unlikely that someone plated the coin, though stranger things have happened. Someone who knows more about the annealing process might be able to say with more certainty that this is or isn't something to do with that; but I have read that sometimes the copper in the alloy becomes relatively separated from the nickel, which may explain why it seems coppery to you in hand.

I have tried rubbing it off,With my finger and a toothpick, But no change. I really don't want to try acetone. If need be I will just to find out what is the cause of this. Thanks for the advice!

with John1. toning. Acetone will not hurt your coin. If it is a substance as mentioned it may remove it. What's up with the area on his temple?

Oldmike the temple area is normal. I think it was the lighting that put a glare on this area.
