OK well it wasn't very funny, and it's lucky to still be in my possession. I almost threw it across the park.
I had a very good tone, and I kept digging deeper and deeper. at about 14" down, out pops this large coin. My heart freezes as I see the date 1825 on the right side of the coin. I spit on it as spit is the only solvent I have on hand. I clean, I gently wipe, and then I become very infuriated. A stupid, modern, presidential token of James Monroe. How in the #$%^ did this thing get that deep to start with? I remember them doing some trenching in this area a few years ago so I am sure it happened then. I've polished it up, but Here are some pics.
