Ok so I went to town today and picked up 7 bank wrapped rolls from my local bank and some Advil (For the headache I sometimes get CRHing.

So far I have looked through 2 rolls. Surprisingly out of the 100 LMC's so far, there have been only 8 Zincolns including one 2009 D, The rest have mostly been from the 70's. It also looks like the rest of the rolls could be this was as the end coins look to be copper.

While I like getting copper cents, I can't help but wonder if I got some collectors rejects. Is this an indicator that I may have?

Thanks...Mont.
Rest in Peace

You say " bank wrapped" rolls. For sure, by name on wrapper or they told you? Or just have turned over ends. Those with the turned over are usually customer deposited, which could mean a dump or a business. Shrink wrapped usually Brinks, but that too depends on regional pickup points. A hard crimped end is usually another delivery service, here its Guarda, or it could be a bank with a counter/spinner crimp themselves, those are pretty expensive for small banks tho.

To answer your question, not necessarily a collector dump but someone's penny jar went through to load those rolls. Luck of the draw most likely. Now, if you begin to see a lot of "marked" coins, THEN you definitely know its a dump. Got 14 rolls of halves a while back. Had three different markers, 3 sets of eyes before me, nothing but junk!

Probably some that sat in someone's cent jar for years. I would go through them. A couple of weeks ago I got 3 bags that were all from around 2000 to 2006. I did find one 1999 WAM and a 2006 1DO-017. Not too bad. You just never know. Still Lookin

Okay maybe not bank wrapped rolls, but they are not folded over either. The ends are rolled tight(Crimped?) and they are wrapped tight. No name on wrappers just the words 50(cent mark) pennies in red ink. Definitely not customer wrapped rolls.

Maybe someone was separating copper cents for a hoard and decided they didn't care anymore and dumped them.

I would certainly be happy to get rolls like that. The 60s, 70s and even 80s gives one quite a bit to look for.

Edit: so that means they are machine-wrapped rolls (MWRs), most likely by a company such as Brinks or a bank with the machine.

Went through one more roll.

Out of three rolls:

9 Zincolns including 1 2009-D
141 Copper including 14 San Frans.

No major errors and no RPMs or DDO / DDRs. But I have upgraded several of my coins in my book with these.

4 Rolls to go but done for the night. Will do some more tomorrow if I have time.

I agree with spruett001. Maybe you'll score a small date 1970S.
