I spent the day reading Wexler's and think I have a little better understanding of these errors. I went back through some of the uncirculated cents and found these.

Correct me if I'm mistaken on any of them please. Still learning.

Thanks in advance,
Blair

not sure on this one... but the cent is uncirculated so I know it's not post mint damage. Lamination error maybe? The whole area there seems to be full of chips etc... Catastrophic die failure?

Great Pix Blair! Love those RPM's, you picked 'em, now figure out their ID's according to Wexlers and Coppercoins. (Boy, there's a bunch for the 60D's). I'll comment on a few:

#1)& #2) ? The IN shows major die wear, see the tops oh the letters stretching to the rim? the bottom, PMD or MD

#3) & #4) 1960D small date split lower serif RPM, let you discover the # (hint on http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.php SD starts after 100)

#5) Yep D/D 1961

#6) is it insuse or up above the field?, just looks scratched to me?

#7) PMD with retained damage. You see line of motion of the hit.

Good pick ups!

Pics 1 & 2 look like a hit to the bottom of IN. Agree with the RPM diagnosis for the others. Second to last pic is indeed a die scratch, but that alone doesn't attach a premium to it. They're useful die markers for other things though. Last pic, could be hit and die crack (spike head!), could be a lam. Can you get a full obverse image of that one? If the line runs through the raised portion of the design, then I'd go lam. Crazy could be right too if the scratch goes over the rim onto the field. I can't tell for sure from the picture though.

Thank you Crazyb0 I'll be trying to figure those out tomorrow...

Druu, I hadn't really been looking for clashes etc so I didn't look close at the flat feilds and once I found that tear in the copper at the edge I guess I stopped looking for anything else...lol. A Whole layer of the copper is trying to come off of this coin.

You can't really tell it in this photo except by the slightly different color of the metal but see the photos that follow.
