Coin roll find 1998 Jefferson nickel spike head . Jefferson looks like a unicorn.havent found many die cracks in nickels this is the first spike head nickel I have found.

Excellent!

Every time I thought I'd found one, it turned out to be a hairline scratch or a well-placed line of discoloration.

Thanks spruette and councents. I know what you mean spruette you would think as bad a shape as these nickel dies get in that you would find more cracks like with the 80s era pennies. This one wasn't listed on coc so I submitted it .

I like it! Awesome indeed. I've never seen one there. Most of the Jeffs head for the nose, because it's a shallow (weak) point in the die that is close to the rim. The lettering is channeled in the die as well, tempting the crack to happen. I can see the forehead is similar. Nice find.

Thanks coinmasters. Most of the ones they had on coc were as you said on the nose. This one goes right through the R and to the rim.

Yeah it does, the nose ones go through the E. Many of the ones on COC are mine, listed under my real name (J.K.).
