I found this really cool looking die crack - except I can't figure out if it is all a crack or if parts of it may be scratches. Looking at it in hand is no good because my vision isn't good enough.

Help needed - let me know if there are some specific pictures you need to help figure it out.

I am also open to sending it to one of you all with better equipment to see it. Why do I say this? Because it may be one of the rim to rim die cracks, which would be my first.

Yep, it takes a few pics for verification, but it's there alright. A chip too. Nice find.

For sure 2x2 worthy. So is it a pre-cud then?

Thanks everyone. I was wondering if it had a name as well.
This is from Error-ref. what do you think?

http://www.error-ref.com/?s=rim+to+rim+die+crack

"A curved rim-to-rim die crack is sometimes called a "pre-cud die crack" even though there's no guarantee that it will progress to a Cud (marginal die break)"

Where are you guys seeing this connecting to the rim? I see the crack petering out before the last A in AMERICA. The diagonal mark there looks like a scratch to me. Looking closely at the third picture, you can see that mark extend to the A in AMERICA. It's a fantastic die crack, but I would not call it a Retained Cud.

Not a Retained Cud but possibly a "pre-cud die crack".
I am trying to get some better pics of the area where the A is.

Yours is an irregular rim to rim die crack. Not a curved or pre-cud.

" Retained Cud" and "rim-to-rim die crack" are synonymous terms. http://cuds-on-coins.com/retained-cuds/

I'm still not seeing where the die crack reached the rim a second time. Can someone slap an arrow on an image if nobody wants to tell me? Thanks.

Retained Cud has nothing to do with CC's coin. The last pic shows it reaches the rim. The second from the last pic shows it reaches the rim at the other end.

I am going batty trying to get a good pic - the glare is just ridiculous. Here is what a got and depending on the lighting it looks different.

Maybe I can send it to JC at COC for inspection.

Anyways, even if its not a Rim To Rim it is a great die crack plus the crack on the O and another baby chip on the bottom of the N and then again a small crack & chip on the bottom of the E. So I am a happy camper.

Thanks, coincents! The new pics really show what I thought I saw in your first batch. I see a crack starting at the bottom right of the shield and curving upwards towards the end of AMERICA, but I see the straighter line that hits the last A of AMERICA as a hit since the raised lettering shows a hit.

@CoinMasters, The last picture has nothing to do with the would be rim to rim die crack. It is a separate die crack and die chip on the O of ONE. The longer die crack starts at the bottom right of the shield and curves upward and to the right. It does not reach the ONE.

Honestly, with all the cracks, I'd be happy to call it a shattered die. But I still don't see rim to rim.

Thanks CM & Thanks Druu - as I said I wish I had better vision so I could just use my eye loupe. I should be able to confirm either way since I have the coin right in front of me

But with as cracked up as it is - I am happy with the find.

I really appreciate all the input
