to CCF I am just seeing PMD (post mint damage) to the coin and on these zinc cents any little knick in the plating starts the zinc rot process because it become exposed air, dirt, oils from the skin etc.

What I also see it a bit of a " Greaser" grease filled or partially filled die which pretty much eliminated the I in IN and the Flattened out the L in Liberty. These greasers a pretty common but if you come across one with several Devices (letters) missing and given the condition of coin but be worth a couple of bucks.

I know and it is sad, practically impossible to get a good one in circulation and then you worry about how long it is gonna last once you flip it.

Yeah, if there's even anything left to find! I "dug" these at the local Coinstar :

A couple of those are 2000 or later.

Some have suggested that because of the propensity for corrosion with Zincolns, keeping BU examples in AirTites for posterity may become a future market.

With the way most people treat cents nowadays and the short lifespan, there may not be many around in a short time. Although, you can still find some pretty nice ones out there like the 25 year old one I got in a roll recently.

I have the 2017 P&Ds that KenKat generously offered in AirTites. Maybe I should put that 1992 in one as well. I think 50 years from now detectorists will still be finding pre-1982 coppers and will wonder what happened to everything after!

@redrevo117

KenKat may still have a 2017 BU set of cents to give away. You need 17 quality posts (for 2017) and to have email activated on your profile to receive them. Once you reach 17 posts, you can post here:
