Gary Burke Rest in Peace United States 3730 Posts	Posted 12/07/2005 9:59 pm British large pennies aren't exactly new to me since I have a collection of them from 1888 until they stopped minting them. However, today while looking through an old box in which I kept coins I discovered two British pennies I didn't even know I had. Both were 1940, and both would be about AU -- still fairly shiny, even after 65 years. I have no idea when I got them, but am guessing they haven't seen the light of day for at least two decades! I need to pick something out and go with it but the choices are overwhelming and I am working on so much right now it would almost be foolish to start a new series. But then, I can still be happy to think that out of three kids, and six grandkids, at least a few will collect, and after I have "bought the farm," they will have a good start on collections, and hopefully finish some I have started.
