Picked up my third 1908-D Barber half dollar tonight. I just picked one up yesterday. This one I think grades between AU53 and AU55. It has a couple of scratches and a mark on the neck that I am hoping will not details the coin. Wholesale bid for this coin at AU53 is $325. With a details designation it would be half that. Purchased it for $169 including shipping. It has a return privilege, so hopefully it looks better in hand, but who knows. Thoughts? Thanks. Well, with a little searching, I found out just now that this coin was sold on April 7 in an ANACS AU53 details - scratched and cleaned holder. Seller paid $153 for the coin. Looks like I am returning this coin. I'll try to cancel the sale. Thanks for looking. Pretty slick, cracking it out of the ANACS details slab and slipping it into a 2x2.

Gotta be careful out there my friend . No offense to any member who sells on e-bay, but the bay at times can be a serpent without a head .

Don't think the coin is a great loss - kind of splotchy looking.

Seller said that he was selling a coin for someone else. He was very concerned about what happened and cancelled the sale. Stand up guy.

Good to hear. You're better off without this one.

I do not care for the toning. It looks to have been cleaned/dipped/stained.
