This 1980 penny seems smaller and is a lot thicker then normal. Weighs 3.074gm. I compared it to another one in photos below. Any thoughts?

I believe they call it rim rolling.. I've seen this done to a quarter.. I believe I remember someone telling me that people in prison do this to pass time.. pressure and time rolling the coin on concrete will do this.. notice how close the edge lettering is to the rim..

Cool! I guess they have time to roll a penny around. I would have never guessed that. Thanks

It's a Dryer Coin. If you're interested, Earle42 put on a cool presentation about them:
