Hey there...

Love the content and interchange on this site, and has been a source of a huge amount of info. for me since getting back into coin collecting..

But are there any plans to create a "mobile friendly" version of the CCF website?

I can get by using Safari on my iphone, but a true "mobile version" of the site (properly resizing for different phone screens, mobile-friendly menu bars, resizing/moving banner adds and graphics, etc.) would make the site much nicer to use on smart-phones.

I presume you are using some sort of public-domain (or possibly purchased?) community forum software, but perhaps they have an updated version that allows for improved operation on mobile devices.

Just a suggestion to increase user activity and make it easier to navigate on mobile devices, which more and more is the way many people access websites.

Recognize it would likely take some back-end work on the site, but would be a nice improvement to site usability.

Regards,

Michael

It's not worth it. This site looks just fine on my iPhone. Back when google changed their algorithm to favor mobile friendly sites, I spent $500 to create a mobile friendly version of my website. I hated the look. I actually thought my site looked better on mobile devices before the work was done. All this just to have a 'mobile friendly' icon appear in search results and hopes that my site would maintain or improve its rankings. The improvement never happened and now google has removed that icon from search results. Total waste of money. It's not cheap to do and would probably cost 3 times what I paid for a site of this size.

It would take great amount of effort and funds to create a mobile version. I used to run web programming company, and modifying existing programmed structure to make it "mobile friendly" will be almost impossible, since these sites are originally programmed with a "template" structure.

If you don't like a PC, then get a large screen tablet

I occasionally do small things to make it better but as stated a full blown mobile version is really not worth it.

I do have code in place to detect mobile users. Topic.asp has some differences. For example, there are no avatars on mobile and some other formatting changes to make it more friendly.

Bobby - the biggest problem mobile, especially in portrait mode - is the large left nav. Even though I have a large screen phone (Samsung S7), it doesn't scale. The page isn't very usable until I zoom out.

Question for einstem:

I am on iOS too and was wondering if you also have trouble opening some side pages such as the glossary or coin history pages. When I do the entire site and every tab I have open for coin community keep reloading and crashing.
