I have about 15 sets of Franklin to Lincoln coins in little plastic envelopes stapled together. I recall seeing coins were issued proof or unc in sets like this. Anyone have any ideas/information?

How about a little more details. Such as dates, Mint marks, how many of each stapled together and/or anything else.

Can you post some pictures of these "sets"?

Do the plastic envelopes have blue or red edges to them? If so, these may be US mint sets. I think a few of these can have some potentially interesting coins, such as the Lincoln 70-S small date.

Lets not forget the 1970-D half dollar...

Oh right--btw, I could've picked up a 70 PDS set at the last show for $15, except I wasn't happy with the strike of the 70-D Kennedy. No luck with finding a 70-S SD, but I've heard there are some in mint sets!

These 1962 and 1963 (5 of each) sets are stapled together and include P/D Halves, Quarters, Dimes, Nickels, Cents. Image: 6263PDsets.jpg61.62 KB and then there are these sets of nickels (10 of each), 73-S, 74-S, 75-S Image: jeffmacro.jpg72.63 KB Image: jeffsets.jpg56.59 KB The nickels look like they were issued Proof. What do you all or any of you think? Also, I see the "S" nickels for these years were not typical issue.

Okay, I think I just found out that the "S" nickels posted were only issued as proof.

That is nothing the US Mint did, someone broke up proof sets and packaged them separately.

that's what I was going to say too Bio. lol I would check it out and get them out of the plastic bags or whatever they are in and put them in flips. just to make sure that you don't end up with green crust coins.

Thanks...I asked because somewhere along the line of the last few months, I thought I'd seen something advertised as directly from the mint in these plastic envelopes stapled together.

Gary said, "I would check it out and get them out of the plastic bags or whatever they are in and put them in flips. just to make sure that you don't end up with green crust coins.Too late...some of the Franklins and Washingtons have black spotting on them where the poly was cracked or ripped.
