Any thoughts on this 1916-D?

Just my opinion - the "D" looks applied to the coin.

Same. It's probably a regular 1916 with a modified D added. Seems fishy to me.

Appears to be an added D.

Soak it in acetone for a few minute!

I can't speak to it's authenticity however I would pass based on the condition. Looks heavily cleaned or polished. I'd much rather have an honest original AG3 or F04 with less detail than a heavily cleaned coin like this.

I would also pass. The D does look like it was added to the coin.

Is this yours or did you find it for sale somewhere?

Odd how fresh the scratches look.

Suspicious and ugly at the same time.

Pass ... screams added mint mark to me ... one of the most common USA counterfeits out there.

In the attached montage above the first couple of MMs come from PCGS CoinFacts with the far right shot being the op's coin.
I'm unsure of the grade of the op's coin but it seems as if the center hole of the grade 8 PCGS coin retained a somewhat more pronounced semblance to its original triangular configuration at its inception clearly shown on the grade 65 PCGS coin in the center shot.
Take note of the angle orientations of the two pairs of small red arrows I placed on the two PCGS coins.
This possible distinction assumes relatively similar wear patterns for both the op and grade 8 PCGS coins.
I'd say the op's dime is a fake and a pretty close one that could easily take one to the cleaners at a fast paced auction...
