Shouldn't there be a grade for this coin if it's in a PCGS slab? It's very confusing to me. All it has is bu unc.

PCGS lists it's grade as genuine (89-bu unc) Edit: thanks John.

With NO numerical grade on the slab this is most likely just another marketing scam.

Coins in non-numerical grade holders were part of bulk submissions to either PCGS or NGC by large resellers. They are a way to get inexpensive coins (such as silver bullion coins) authenticated and encapsulated without the added cost of grading. They offer collectors who prefer encapsulated coins an opportunity to purchase coins at a lower price point while also allowing them to enjoy special labels such as the one shown here - signed by John Mercanti. Coins in these holders generally sell for more than their raw counterparts but less than coins graded MS-69 and above.

Like I said "A marketing scam" as these are the "Rejects"

So would PCGS grade this coin with a numerical grade if I were to send it in to them ?

Not sure where you are getting a $349 price point for this coin. $35 - $40 would be what I would expect to see.

That's the conclusion I came to Debrajc. The prices were from ebay and PCGS but higher grades.
