My question is the old estate tag says "two city goddesses" but the reference says both Tyche's. Were these really both meant to be the same Goddess Tyche when the coin was stuck?
And I am finding the Goddess Atargatis in the book below referenced so could this be Atargatis and Tyche separate?

The only reference I've been able to find so far is BMC 69, Turreted busts of two Tyches.

Ron;

I suppose what I am getting at is did the people see a "Tyche" as a generic deity like an "angel" or was Tyche a specific Goddess? You would not put 2 Christs on a coin or 2 Virgin Mary figures. And the people probably thought about Tyche much as they eventually thought about the Virgin Mary as you notice Mary often has the same Tyche crown from that part of the world in paintings. So there could be a separate specific city Goddess with Tyche. These are very very advanced religions by the time we are seeing their coins in my opinion. So there would be a blasphemy possibility unlike the Roman coins who used Gods more generically. You see a lot of Tyche in this part of the world nearly exclusively.

That's a good point, but beyond my knowledge about to why it has been identified as two Tyche's. It would make more sense to have Tyche on one side and another deity on the other. I wish I was able to have access to British Museum Collection reference.
