It appears to have the words plated in the wreath but I'm not sure

Coins and, for that matter, tokens, don't usually formally state that they are "plated". But buttons do. So I'd assume, lacking closer pics, that this is actually a button, or at least a piece of one. Once the large loop that attached it to clothing is broken off, an old 18th or 19th century button can look surprisingly coin-like.

I'm with Sap. You can see where the loop was attached in the center of the wreath side.Commonly used in 1720s-1770s.

The top photo seems to have an exergue with possibly a bit of a date beginning 1. A closer view of the bottom would help.
