spru Bedrock of the Community United States 12477 Posts	Posted 05/19/2017 8:26 pm A linear plating bubble is raised as well. It may be that or a die gouge from what I see but, not a die crack. There is also something under the right side of the Memorial with the same angle. So die gouges or plating bubbles. It's hard to tell. (I find the "pushing down" works better on zinc rot coins, and not necessarily on linear plating bubbles.) I have never seen a die crack that is that straight -- think of it as cracking an egg or shattering a bottle on the ground: the damage will be jagged. Like Spruett suggested, the usual culprits of a raised fairly straight area are linear plating bubbles and die gouges. I believe a die gouge would not maintain straightness when running over an incuse area (on the die). That's why I'm at linear plating bubble here. Report this Post to the Staff
