I bought a 1999 Silver Eagle off ebay for $20 because I liked the toning and the price. Now that I have received it, I noticed what I think may be a die error on the obverse. It is basically a small crater. In the crater, the lines of Lady Liberty's dress continue on.

After seeing the crater on the obverse, I am starting to wonder about what I thought was a razor cut on the reverse. Could what looks like a 1" perfectly straight cut actually be a die error? And now as I looked the reverse over one more time, I see what looks like chunks cut out of the left side of the shield.

Please check out the images and let me know what you think. And if it is a die error, please let me know what you think of its value.

Thank you and happy hunting.

The scratch makes this coin worth bullion value only regardless of whatever else it has going on.
IMO minor errors on NCLT and bullion coins negatively affect any premium.

Reeded edge hit it looks like, somebody dropped another coin on it.

I have to respectfully disagree... sometimes a little damage adds character to piece.. I would certainly not melt this one down.. yes it hurts the value but I certainly would not kick this one out of my collection for that.. I'm willing to bet the coloring looks better in person than it does in these photos.. :)
