I've seen quite a few damaged coins whether it be intentionally, unintentionally or environmentally. I pulled this from a roll and upon closer inspection, I couldn't figure out what exactly happened or if it's actually damage at all.

The rim is pretty jacked up all around on both sides but for one, the "dings" don't align from side to side and also at least half of them only affect the inner edge of the rim but somehow generally don't affect the legend. I see no bulging of the edge as if it were pinched/sqieezed.

Also, despite there being a general lack of "damage" on the inner areas, Lincoln's nose and chin seem to be punched into the planchet beyond the field but they still maintain the proper profile.

Some of the pillars of the Memorial also show odd distortions that don't seem to affect the bays or anything around them. Maybe there's too much to look at and I'm missing an obvious sign. If this is intentional damage, it's very specific and leaves me

Looks like an iron mesh of some sort imprinting on it, being driven over by forklifts? Whatever dinged Lincoln's fact was the same object, see styrations inside and OD is same shape, like coin was chopping around.

At first glance, it looks like a common parking lot coin.

Closer inspection made me think twice and thrice. It just doesn't match any other PMD I've seen and the "damage" isn't consistent across high points in the design.

Some of the rim actually looks like Cuds to me but, not all of it.

One of the most important things to me was the nose and chin. They are affected but maintain their original edge profiles. There's no effect outside of that on the field except for a gradual shallowing that follows the design in a natural way, if that makes sense.

It all looks like damage to me with zinc rot starting. The early stage of zinc rot is making the copper plating sink down.

Looked at it again too, the raised edge is like a Dryer Coin, something rolling on its edge, the "dimples" are spaced about the distance of bearing in a large bearing cup...wear indentions perhaps? Obscure type of damage for sure. Then again, it could be Johnny in the garage with the internet down...
