Translation:
COMMEMORATIVE COIN OF THE BICENTENARY OF THE INDEPENDENCE OF COLOMBIA
The currency with which the Bank of the Republic celebrates the bicentennial of the liberation campaign of 1819 takes as its basis the one popularly known as "la China", minted between 1813 and 1826, and whose main characteristic is the figure of an indigenous woman (or "china") surrounded by the legend AMERICAN FREEDOM. It was designed by Antonio Nariño before leaving for the Southern Campaign in 1813.
"La China" remained in Cundinamarca until 1816, when the Spanish ordered its collection after the reconquest.
On August 16, 1819, Simón Bolívar ordered the Mint "to transfer to that treasury [...] all the currency commonly called India that exists in it, to be delivered to the State's emergencies". Since November 12, 1819 that year a new issue of "la China" circulated, which thus became the first republican currency.

CHARACTERISTICS
Alloy composed of 75% copper +/- 2 and 25% nickel +/- 2. Diameter of 35 mm +/- 0.1 mm and with an average weight of 21.75 g ± 3%.
Obverse
The figure of "la China" on the obverse of the coin combines the image of a young woman, an allegory of freedom since the French Revolution, with that of an indigenous woman with a feathered headdress, who in the West personified America. It represents, therefore, freedom, but more specifically AMERICAN FREEDOM, as stated in the legend that surrounds it and ends with the original year of minting of the coin.
REVERSE
The figure shows the figure of an open pomegranate, with the stem and several leaves, in allusion to the name that the country had since the Conquest and that it used, with some modifications, until 1863. Around the figure is the legend REPÚBLICA DE COLOMBIA, the denomination (10000 PESOS), the year of minting of the commemorative coin (2019) and a security element that, depending on the angle from which it is viewed, will reflect the initials "BR", or, the Arabic number "10".
