Anyone else notice the decrease in the packaging from the mint? Boxes that used to contain bubble wrap, and taped three sides, and now taped once, and they are using 'butcher paper' to wrap the contents in.

To save money, why would they not have combined the two coins I ordered into one box, wrapped it properly, and shipped it, instead of two boxes packaged as above?

I would not complain if they saved my orders, and shipped every other week or three - if required due to stock or minting issues etc. But come on, two different coins ordered at the same time - emails issued within seconds of each other 'order shipped'....and using two boxes. What a waste.

My last shipment had zero tape on the outside of the box. Anybody along the way could have opened the fold over flap and had full access to the contents including my invoice. The contents were also wrapped in brown paper, should be bubble wrap. Not impressed.

I noticed that too and fortunately everything was in order. Using less plastics... RCM going green?

I'm OK with whatever packing they use as long as it survives shipping and handling.

I'm fine with the switch to paper packaging material vs. the plastic - it does the intended job just fine.

I've also noticed the reduction in exterior taping - so far, each package I've received with just one piece of tape has arrived w/o issue and with contents secure.

Someone must have calculated the potential cost reductions associated with less handling time per package plus the lower costs of materials and determined that the overall cost savings would more than make up for an uptick in damage/missing coin claims.

I notice this with the 3 coin silver set I recently received.

While I miss popping the bags, the paper is easy to recycle and get rid of. The plastic 'bumpers' and cardboard boxes still serve a purpose and can be reused for many things!
