Hi, any ideas about this coin? It weighs 37g, is non-magnetic and is about 58mm in diameter. The date says 1208 Hijri and I recognise the writing as being the Verse of the Throne (Ayat Al-Kursi) with Allah written in the middle on one side and Muhammad on the other.
Thanks

It's not a coin. I'm also pretty sure that the 1208 date is fictitious; 1208 equates to AD 1793-4, and no Islamic country was striking brass coins back then.

Given the large size, I suspect it's a Southeast-Asian Islamic "pilgrim's token". Though I admit such tokens are usually more pictorial than this piece.

Thanks, yes sounds right on the money. Did a search on pigrim tokens and saw a picture of a different one I was given. Worthless I suspect.
