Hi all, I just finished up dating all of my Japanese coins (thanks for the EXTREMELY helpful webpage Kuhli) Among those coins I have a Year 14 (1939) Sen (Y#56). My question is, what is the difference between Type A and Type B? Thanks in advance.

Krause shows a diagram of the difference. The difference is in the style of the internal lines of the character for '4' in the date. In Type A the lines are different from each other and in Type B they are symetrical.

Thanks tbirde,we must have different issues of Krause because my 2005 edition does not show the diagram. However, I took a look in an older edition that I have (but never refer to anymore) and it was in there. I knew there was a reason that I hadn't gotten rid of it. Turns out I have the more common Type B. Thanks again!!
