United States Marine Corps.
Is this an authentic coin? ( or a medal*)

Not a coin. Maybe some kind of "challenge medal"?

Not a challenge coin. With the Marine Corp EGA emblem depicted as a line drawing instead of in relief, I'd say it's some kind of souvenir or decoration. Is it brass?

The base exchanges, and shops around the armed forces bases that cater to supplying tourist souvenirs if if is real soft probably gold toned or anodized aluminum. There have been hundreds of styles and designs over the years. I have some in brass and in copper not to mention the ones that have been minted in silver. It would be a souvenir token.
