PGCS graded this without a DDO attribution. First and foremost, is this a DDO? There is obvious doubling of the eagle's upper and tail wings, but not of the eye or beak that I can tell. I think I see doubling in some body feathers closer to the tail? There is doubling in the letters, but that may be Longacre doubling (I wasn't able to capture it well enough to see in the pics, except in the 'F' of 'OF'). And it appears to be either a restrike or doubling of the date. On the reverse, there is Longacre doubling in the ribbon area, and some type of doubling of the 'EN' in CENT. If this is a DDO, would it be beneficial to do a crossover with NGC with the variety (I'm sending in others to NGC soon), or would resubmission with variety to PCGS be better?

Quote: Beautiful FE,,,what did grade? Thank you! I think it's my new favorite individual coin, and the FE's are my favorite type (I think). Just wish they were produced for a longer period. As for grade, see here: http://goccf.com/t/290451Reveal in 24.

I'll say EF-45, but might make AU-50. Scratches in right obverse field are troubling, at least to me.

I believe it is a Machine Doubling considering the doubling seen on the Claw Tip, Tail and Wing and the date are on the same direction!

The wing and tail definitely look like Machine Doubling. The doubling on the date however is interesting. Looks more like something you would see from a double strike,

Should I leave it the way it is, or would there be a benefit to resubmission?

From reading reviews of TPG companies, PCGS is supposed to be the leader. I'm guessing if they didn't grade it as a DDO and you paid the fee for variety/attribution grading, then I think it would be a waste of money to submit it to NGC. IMO

I would just leave it in the PCGS slab. Nice flying eagle!

IMHO, PCGS overgraded this coin by at least 5 points. Consequently, I'd be pleased with that gift and not resubmit it.
