I have a bunch, uncirculated... Are they worth more in their silver content, or as a collector piece? I hate the idea of selling them knowing they will be melted, but... Thanks for your help, and/or guidance.

i would think they would be worth more as a collector item especially if they have nice eye appeal

It's just the common "junk silver" that is bought and sold for "melt value".
If your pieces are truly uncirculated........espicially any key dates, then definately keep them protected in 2x2's, albums, folders, or airtights or something.......do not sell them for melt value !. ......In fact whoever buys them from you for that puropose would then turn around and sell them for much more than he paid you !...

You would think so,

I had about $30 face of silver coins ( W/L, mercs, barbers, franklins, and a few roosies) that I priced at kitco circulated silver coin scrap buy price MINUS $30 which I would have had to use for postage and took them to the local coin club auction. I thought they would go fast as they were in a zip lock bag and you see that some were nice s mint. Nope, they came back home with me. I even offered to divide it into smaller portions. Only a few of the Barber coins were AG-G, all the rest were better. Surprised me! But on the good side, bought some AU/BU morgan/peace $ for almost melt from another person who thought like I did. He had no other offers either and I couldn't resist them. Most new collectors today seem to be type collectors or modern mint product collectors. Not criticizing it, just seems to be that way here.
