had some decimals to swap in Olympic 50p's etc, thought i'd buy something different with the proceeds, an unusual coin, some say they are early strikes from the proof dies and others that they came from vip sets, either way I love it, comments and opinions welcome, *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***Edited by Craigy 06/24/2017 12:23 pm

bit concerned about buying this coin actually unless I've had a touch ona certain online auction site, picked this up not long ago, looks the same as the one I bought for a large sum of money (the one in the pics at the top of thread), have I been had over or have I had a deal online ? think I might need to contact the dealer and ask him whats going on ?

Not my thing Craig but suggest you post the pictures on the pre decimal forum an english forum with some experts in the specialised field.

Scarce at best, not rare. 40 thousand proof sets were struck for 1953.

A nice 1953 proof set can be picked up for about £50.
