Just a heads up as this likely has hit a lot of us.
Over the past few days I have received three identical e-mails from what appears to be CC&C to confirm my e-mail subscription to their e-mail marketing. Since I had signed up for their communications, I went ahead and clicked on the confirmation link...once.
However, since doing that, I have been hit with a least dozen spam e-mails that appear to be linked to CC&C (Google mailchimp).
My only advice is if you receive a request to confirm your e-mail address, be very cautious.
So far, anti-malware scans have not resulted in any threats but this all seems very suspect.

Same here. The link in the email is legitimate. It's from CC&C.
However, looks like someone in the office made a mistake and subscribed us all to the Google Groups "Mail Chimp Subscribe" list.
I've sent an email already and will be calling them tomorrow.

The same thing happened to me. I wish I had never pressed the subscribe again button. I have now had emails from different names from (mailchimp)
Hope it is not a virus:(((((((
I also emailed my rep at CC&C

When CDN changed owners and jacked the subscription price WAY up I did not renew my subscription.

Never ceases to amaze me how people will reply to a topic after reading only the first word of the title and nothing else.

I've been using a thing called "Unroll.me" type it in as if it's a url. You give it permission to check out your inbox, then it does all the work for you to block out spam emails, and lets you decide what you want to continue to receive.
On my Yahoo.com account, I used to get about 20-30 emails a day - mostly junk. After using this thing, I'm down to 3-6, of which most are relevant to me.

My software is filtering these to a junk mail folder too but the greater concern is the apparent breach of their marketing contacts.
Yahoo/Rogers/Bell/RedFlagDeals and most of the other large user companies have had hacks of their user databases. Most have supposedly been limited to e-mail addresses and/or contact lists but frankly, having this happen with a coin dealer is more troublesome to me.
I'm very interested to hear what if anything you all have heard back from CC&C.

Quote: A MISTAKE? LOL Yes, it's a big mistake to upset so many customers by breaking their marketing contract. I called them today and couldn't get anywhere. No explanation. No apologies.

But we became so usual to the internet, that forgot basic thing: over internet there is no strict responsibility, but more or less anarchy that has some rules and regulations

Quote: more or less anarchy that has some rules and regulations Good one...lol I called again and finally spoke to someone more knowledgeable. CC&C made the mistake of sending emails with a "Reply to all" button. The replies from other people go through the Google group list, so the senders never did have our email addresses. If you didn't respond to the emails coming from other people then you are ok. No harm done if you responded to only the original CC&C email. If you responded to someone else's email, then that's the only person who would receive it.

You're welcome CC-Ottawa.
I was concerned too, but it appears to have been just human error with no harm done.
