Hi Community

I have purchased 17 silver coins from an estate, all proof, uncirculated, US Silver Eagles (pre-1992) in plastic coin holder inside the original purple velvet presentation boxes as provided by the US Mint.
I also have some 19th century older gold coins in good shape.

Using a 10-power magnification on the Eagles, I would consider a few of them to be PR-70/MS-70. Most of the others would be MS-69, a few MS-68.

I would like to know where in Vancouver, BC there would be an official grading service.

If even one of these is truly MS-70, that would pay for the whole lot.

Many thanks

I meant to include a few pics with my post. Here are a few of the Silver Eagles (1986 to 1992). Crappy picture, oh well.

Thanks DBM.
Closest grading service would be...?

What about having them looked at by a reliable dealer in Vancouver as to what they might think? Who would give the best guesstimate?

I would caution you that the difference between a 69 and a 70 can be difficult to tell without quite a bit if experience, and even then a bit of luck is needed. I wouldn't bet on getting any 70s. Especially if they were ever removed from the capsules by the previous owner.
I wish you luck, but would suggest that you be careful as the cost of grading can be a potential loss.

I wouldn't think that any of them would be worth having them cert'd. They are not circulation coins, so the worst that any of them (and all like them by everyone who has one) would be 68. There aren't enough collectors of them to make any kind of a premium on them, because so many were minted.

J&M, Chantou, and All Nations are all pretty reliable dealers.
Franklin Mint items are generally melt value no matter what the grade.
Odds are that the Eagles are also melt value items, so best you have them checked out before you consider having them graded.

The Eagles pictured are proofs. Current market value is around 40 to 45 USD. Even at that they are a tough sell .
The market tanked on PROOF silver Eagles with changes to the Investment accounts ( IRA) under US TAX Law last year.
Simply put no one cares and grading them makes little sense.
As to the Franklin mint stuff....... a blow torch comes to mind . Sell them for 98 per cent of gold and don't look back.
There is NO retail market for them.
