Finally, for the truly adventurous, here is (presumably) a token for the Hong Kong bar in Olongapo on Luzon. 1.2 grams, 22 mm. While the token may be holey, I'm sure the refreshments are not holy.

Back when Nam was at it height, at one point there was approx 7,000 working girls, 8oo or so bars with working girls, 300 hotels. For the ones that didn't take them to their home. It was something to see, 3 or 4 stories of watering holes with the neon a blaze. Monkey meat BBQ sold on every other corner. Supposed to be pork but there were rumors to other species used. 20 would be either centavos, or cents since either was used interchangeably.

7,000 ladies? I remember when an aircraft carrier had to anchor-out as there was no pier space for it. It was the sixth carrier in port. Consider, this was over 50,000 sailors hitting the beach every night if you include the support ships and the air wings. There were still lonely ladies every night.

Ah, my our mis-spent youth.

Was talking with a business associate who described their time in the Vietnam War. Said he had been posted in Subic Bay; asked if he had heard of Olangapo? He had more than heard of it. Gave him the token. He was pleased.
