Hi,

I recently saw this coin and was wondering if it was 1916 or 1917. It appears to have one hair pointing out, but the shield is very profound for such a worn coin.

In my opinion it is a 1917 due to the strong shield rivets.
Sorry.

1917. The shield detail is a good way to quickly differentiate the two in lower grades.

If you see strong shield rivets, it is almost certainly a 1917.

If not, then use other means of identification.

Thanks for the help. I suspected it was a 1917, if it's too good to be true... it usually is!

Great graphic Canadian Banker. Exceptionally nice to prove the point.

Rounded left lower drapery above date area is also a confirmation of 1917.
