I have found some coins lately that I'm not sure if they are double die or Mechanical Doubling. My camera isn't working to show the pictures so I was justy hoping someone could show me pictures so I could compare. These coin errors I have are on the reverse of a Lincoln Cent. It looks what appears to be doubling on the letters.

If you cant post pictures; would you give us the denomination, date, and mint of the/each coin(s)? Then we may be able to post pictures/URLs for your research.

I just found a 1972P quarter with an unusual error on it. On the reverse the first letter in states appears to be doubled and the second letter is clearly one letter over to the left. This is the second one I found like this. the letters look like this ( SSTATES ) strange can anyone explain for me.

On my lists:
DDO: Doubled Die Obverse (Front)
DDR: Doubled Die Reverse (Back)
RPM: Repunched Mint Mark

There is/are:

1982 DDR
1982 DDO
1983 DDO
1983 DDR
1983-D RPM
1984 Doubled Ear, Doubled Lettering
1984 DDO
1985 DDO
1985-D RPM
1987 DDO
1989 DDO (fat dates)
1994 DDR (doubling in the columns)

In my opinion, most, if not all those coins are subject to all sorts of mistakes (not errors/varieties) because I think the quality of metal and strike is far poorer than before 1982.
