I just bought a henry viii coin and I got a pretty good deal. Now I am starting to wonder if the coin is a counterfeit. Can someone look at the pictures and tell if it is a counterfeit or genuine?

Thanks

Post the coin on Predecimal.com for reassurance. The experts there are the best resource IMO.Many counterfeit cast coins have been I'd.
Some of the Henry V111 & Ch 1 coins would of fooled me.
BTW many members of Predecimal are members here.(I have spread the word).
The two finest coin forums for me.

I have to say I don't have a good feeling about the portrait on the coin.

The details look sharp enough (hair etc) so its a struck coin and not a cast one but something about the nose looks ugly.

I only have one Henry eight maybe and earlier portrait but he isn't that ugly.

I really couldn't say if yours is right but I can understand why you have a slightly uneasy feeling. Where did you aquire the coin?

You know what happened to coin counterfeiters in Henry's day. They were slowly boiled in oil. They got a big barrel of boiling oil and slowly lowered them down in it so they were deep fried. Issac Newton was in charge of the London Mint to catch those who were shaving gold coins.

Looking again at Henry's hair it smacks of tooling.
This is what an original authentic coin looks like.
