I have been here a little while but haven't nearly the post count some here have got. Despite this I still have 11 pages to wade through on my phone when trying to post images.

I like the system here but maybe I could may a couple of suggestions.

Firstly is it possible to assign catagories to the images... I mean I have notes, ancient coins and modern to sort through, it would be great if I could put them in different folders so I could find what I wany easier.

Secondly I don't seem to have next page as an option (first page, previous page, middle page and last page when viewed on android...not a problem I just have to go backwards rather than forwards through them)

Also it was a while before I got the "previously uploaded" idea so I am sure I reposted duplicate images a few times... maybe theres a way these could be combined?

The technical challenges of such features I don't understand and what we have does work but for those with a large amount of uploaded inages it is a bit clumsy and I see you have been working to improve that, so thats my feedback.

Not without a LOT of database overhead. Our database is already over 7 GB in size which is HUGE for a DB.

I'm not sure why that would be. I'll have to check on it.

I'm hoping to have a search function done by the end of the day that will help a lot.

One page load of my image list on my phone would use almost 25% my data the old way. It was ridiculously inefficient. It would sometimes even just lock it up.

It will be more efficient for those with a lot of images when done.

My brother said what he would do (he knows a lot about databases and coding forums and that sort of thing whereas I don't) is you attach a field to each image for tag. This allows each image to be tagged (for example banknote, British coin, Ancient coin, world coin etc) and then put in a few buttons on the previous image page to show only banknotes, show ancient coins or whatever. He thinks it isn't such a difficult job, or very resource intensive... people only have to tag their images if they want.

I don't know how your search feature is going to work but maybe there is some utility in attaching tags to images.

Thanks for all your efforts anyway, don't feel I am criticizing because I think you do a great job with the forum.

Yes, which means every single image ever uploaded would have to go into the database. HUGE undertaking and it would be a HUGE table in the DB. Right now, images have zero to do with the DB, as they should.

The search function will search the file names. Hopefully everyone does as they always should and uses meaningful file names.

"if you md5 the username+date and time you can name each image uniquely and just store the name in the database, you can reference it without actually putting the image in the database directly"

That's what he said as well as 7 GB its pretty large, he might be inclined to have it reference a separate database.

He also said I should probably shut up. So that's what I'm gonna do.

It's kind of hard when most of the photos go directly from camera -> computer -> optimizer. I just tend to keep the original camera file names (usually meaningless jumbles of digits, sometimes but not always involving a date) because anything else means I'd have to rename each one manually.

(It doesn't help that many of my coin photos are/were originally posted for identification, which means that I literally cannot have a meaningful file name at upload time, because I just plain hadn't figured out what it is yet!)
