Is This Considered A Double Die Or Something Else?

Crazyb0 Rest in Peace 10197 Posts	Posted 07/27/2017 1:32 pm Mark, it is called "split plate doubling", not a doubled die but a strike error. The thin copper plating can become stretched too far and tear upon stamping the planchet exposing the zinc core to the air. Once CO2 hits the zinc, corrosion happens rather quickly.
