I think the banks pull bills to be sent for mutilation. They don't do it themselves.

If you are asking if you can see bills pulled to be mutilated, I'd guess no.

Typically not as they at least use to be kept in a different part of the vault requiring separate
balancing and only the head teller could add or take away from those balance numbers.
Regular tellers could not pull from specific inventories.

Never hurts to ask tho. All they can do is say no.

Asking for halves or big dollar coins gets a stinky eye, I can imagine what the look would be if asking for mutilated bills

When I was a teller in a large bank I would keep some mutilated bills set aside in my drawer. Every few weeks the head teller would collect them from us and keep them in the vault until she sent them back to the Fed. If someone were to ask I might could show them what was in my drawer at that time, but most of the time it was ripped up, crinkled up, washed out, or had hitler mustaches and swastikas drawn on it. It's just junk bills usually but we hated counting it at the end of the day so they'd probably be happy to trade it out if you wanted it.
Rest in Peace

I had thought that was the head tellers job to gather up those from the individual tellers on a regular basic. Only problem I'd have is the heat teller at the bank I get and dump is also a savvy coin collector herself, all silver/currency is pulled by her either for her own use or is swapped with her "special" clients she's had for years, I'm not on that list apparently!
