So I went to my main bank and have been recently asking the tellers about coins that customers bring. One teller pulled out $12.50 in pennies and said "a customer just brought these, she had other coins that I couldn't take because they were not rolled, they were all halves" I decided to take the pennies and when I got home I opened a few rolls and most are copper pennies. With the majority being pre 1970. Now I wonder all those halfs could have been silver. We will never know

Will be checking later for any possible errors and varieties

I would head back to the bank with some $20's and ask politely for all half dollar coins. Look for all pre-71 halves and errors (no FG, etc).
Rest in Peace

I believe I'd try camping on the banks entrance for a day or two
Rest in Peace

, you could have asked the teller if you can look at some of the Half dollars that you could have bought individually .

I got the sense from reading this that the teller couldn't accept the halves since they weren't rolled.

Very nice Ralph!

Yes, I would nicely ask her is I could just buy some individually
and check for 1970's and before.

I agree. It was written as a quote from the teller.

Nice finds on the copper though.

that's exactly what happened. She did provide her with wrappers so I'll check back.
