I recently found what appears to be a 1988 cent with an error over the first 8 in date. Any help identifying would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Your Pics. are a tad too small to see clearly, but it appears to be a combination of zinc rot and damaged 8,the 8 of date looks like it has taken a hit.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with zinc rot. But keep looking, we have folks report neat new finds almost every day.
