Hi,

Apologies in advance for any ignorant/silly questions (tried searching up with no luck) as I am relatively new

1. I saw several nice looking coins I assumed made in Canada but not available on the Royal Canadian Mint site.
example:
- Canada CLOCK TIME Canadian Maple Leaf series THEMATIC DESIGN $5 Silver Coin 2017 High quality 1 oz
- 2017 RCM glow in the dark UFO coin

Are they authentic?

2. If so, are they exclusive to members and I could only get those through 2nd hand market?

3.I saw the Canada 150 puzzle coins recently but appears to already sold out (not that I could afford it :)). I am already on the email list from RCM, how do you get notify of these cool coins?

Thanks in advance!

to the CCF, Soulaw

The quick answer for your question:

The mentioned coins are modified RCM SML coins.
The modification / enhancement hasn't been done by RCM, and doubtfully RCM has been officially asked or notified..
Most probably - the coins have been enhanced by one of the private mints in Germany.

So...they never have been distributed by RCM (btw similar to SML)

The production numbers of such modifications are 100 - 500, while SML itself hundreds thousands at least.

Do you want to pay near CAD 100 for nicely painted, by 3-rd party, SML - this is up to collector.

not exactly these, but the variety of such coins you can observe (and buy) at this dealer (Toronto based, no issues), as example:

I like the "Clock Time" enhanced coin too. They're offering some nice looking coins lately, but I won't pay those prices.

You can find several of these coins also at this U.S. dealer. The company pays for all duties/taxes. Discount code for 3% off is: THANKYOU

Just ask - people can help.

personally - didn't buy any of these, but I remember:

These coins have been "always" in the market, but the bump in the topic occured in 2015, when "Burning Maple" has been released.
The difference between it and previous modifications: it was "Ruthenium Plated" and more important - contained the COA (3-rd party) stays on 500 units of production.

So, in best days, it gained closely to CAD 180, and people examined closely the coins:
in generally, being good / acceptable quality, some of the coins had visible imperfections: not centered paint, the "ruthenium" wasn't perfectly applied. But it was 3 years ago, might be the technique has been upgraded......

The Coin Shoppe has recently posted a lot of enhanced SMLs (the spoken above Clock included)

Honestly, some of them truly nice art. As coin - not my taste at all, but visually - not bad at all.

Production : 100 units each
