Those 2000 year old coins are fairly awesome.
Makes the modern stuff look trinket-ish.

@keith12, well done with your contest. I'm not sure that we have had 10 different participants in quite some time.

Understanding that others have already posted a gajillion coins with horses, I thought that I would go for participation points by showing only my oldest coins with horses. Most have appeared on other CCF threads, but here are those 7, all of which were minted more than 2000 years ago:

Very nice and interesting coins indeed!

Thalers count as crowns, right?

Here is one from the German County of Saxe-Weimar dated 1610 AD. Normally, they are a bit out of my price range, but I absolutely love the designs on these as the engraver could take advantage of a huge canvas on which to work. This one is 40 mm in diameter.

Don't have a lot of crown-sized silver myself; mostly too expensive.

These three coins should qualify...

Yet-Another-Forum-Game---Numismatic-Go-Fish! Yet-Another-Forum-Game---Numismatic-Go-Fish!

Canada, 1 dollar, 1958

Yet-Another-Forum-Game---Numismatic-Go-Fish! Yet-Another-Forum-Game---Numismatic-Go-Fish!

USA, 1 dollar, 1923-S

Yet-Another-Forum-Game---Numismatic-Go-Fish! Yet-Another-Forum-Game---Numismatic-Go-Fish!

Russian Empire, Catherine II, 1 ruble, Saint-Petersburg mint, definitely from 1770-76, probably dated 1770

I have three other coins that should qualify (Morgan dollar, MTT thaler, 1818 ruble) that I don't have photos for.

I don't think I did a pic of the Morgan before putting it in my 7070, but I might try to take pics of the other two. I doubt that I'll be anywhere near the top even with those, however.
